Started in 1992 as a home bible study group of 4 Christian musicians, Armando Chin Yong, Chu Shoo Woan, Angela Chock Yau Yen and Elaine Pao Yee Ling, then came the formation of “Musician Fellowship” after a year and later registered as Yin Qi Music Centre Bhd. , a non-profit-making company in 1994. The objectives of Yin Qi are to serve God our Lord and Savior through sacred music, by promoting its quality and integrity in order to nurture the growth of church music and cultivate an environment to simulate its growth. Through these years, by the providence of our Almighty God, Yin Qi had organised events ranging from oratorios, music performances, church music seminars, workshops, courses, hymns singing workshops, church choir camps, church music camps and biennial Sacred Music Festival since 2004, striving to promote sacred music and liturgy music that based on the teaching of the Bible, at its best in terms of standard and quality, in order to cultivate a good musical environment among the general public and churches.
Since Yin Qi Choir started in 1994, it had participated and organized events opened to the public, and hosted concerts almost every year like Handel’s Oratorio “Messiah”, Mozart’s “Requiem”, “The Great Mass in C minor”, Mendelssohn’s Oratorio “Elijah”, Haydn’s Oratorio “The Creation”, J. S. Bach’s “Mass in B minor” , “St. Matthew Passion”, “Magnificat”, Motet “Jesu Meine Freude / Jesus My Joy” and Cantata “Ein Ungerfarbt Gemute / An Open Mind”, Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 “Ode to Joy” and “Missa Solemnis” accompanied by orchestra with guest conductors like Dr. Wong Yau Sun, Rev. Lee Chong Min, Prof. David Chin, Dr. Audrey Chung, Mr. Lee Kok Leong and resident conductors Elaine Pao, Caelab Tee and the late Armando Chin Yong. Besides this, concerts, seminars and workshop such as “The Journey of Sacred Music”, “Hymn of All Ages”, “Gloria Sacred Music Concert”, “Glorious Night of Hymns” on tour, “Glorious Night of Hymns II” and “Voices of Faith” comprising of great hymns and sacred works from a historical time span of 300 years were organized to promote the beauty of great music to the Malaysia public. Other than performances, the choir also prepares to lead Sacred Music Sunday Worship and hymns singing at the churches under invitation. Yin Qi Choir has its own audio visual products like “Doxology “, “Jesus, keep me near the Cross”, “Hymns Singing”, “Hymns for Children” and Handel’s Oratorio “Messiah” live concert in 2006 DVD, produced by its own expenses. Yin Qi Choir now consists of 23 active choir members recruited from different denominations and churches in Malaysia. The choir rehearses for 2 hours every week. Other than providing choral training and music teaching, we emphasize on conveying the message in lyrics and music, striving to unify in the idea of singing and musical thoughts, as such in enabling singing in spirit and understanding as taught in the Bible when Jesus Christ, our God and Saviour being the ONE we worship and serving Him with our lives and music. To impart the treasures of Sacred Music to the coming generations, Yin Qi has started the training of Children Choir and Youth Choir, which rehearse every week.
于2020及2021年间，面对新冠疫情的影响，音契继续在郑联晨老师的策划下录制了古诺之《圣体颂》、《至圣救赎主》，勃拉姆斯之《圣歌》，线上《齐来唱圣诗I & II》，线上独唱会《圣诞佳音》及由鲍以灵老师和叶洁芝老师策划下录制的线上独唱会《苦难中的颂赞》，并将它们上载到音契的Youtube频道，与全世界共享圣乐的美善。
Under the impact of Covid-19 pandemic in year 2020 and 2021, Yin Qi continues its works by producing online events such as Charles Gounod’s “Ave Verum Corpus”, “O Divine Redeemer”, Johannes Brahms’s “Geistliches Lied”, online “Hymns Singing I & II” and recital “Glad Tidings of Christmas” initiated by Caeleb Tee and online recital, “An Ode in difficult times”, jointly produced by Elaine Pao and Cecilia Yap.
